Vienna Continues to Hit the Right Note

I have to be honest, I went for a very long time without knowing all that much about Vienna. Longer than I should have, considering I have heard my grandparents talk about the music that has come from there, and specifically listened to the world broadcast of the Vienna Philharmonic New Years Concert with them several years running. But none of this prompted me to inquire further, until now.

Once I began to collect the gifts that I will be giving out to my relatives for Christmas, and was pondering what to get the grandparents it came to light. I then wondered if they would appreciate recording’s of the past concerts and then I was off on a tangent. A tangent that just might bring me to Vienna in the upcoming year.

Now not only am I reacquainting myself with the music of the local orchestra, but with Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn. First stop on my list is the “playful” music museum, Haus der Musik. From there I will let my grandparents recommend how to move onward. For I would most like to see what remains of a city they enjoyed so much, and still do through music.
